Bowser is marrying Peach and has gone shopping for the wedding across the whole planet. Mario follows in an airship, one kingdom at a time.

Capture

Throw Cappy at an enemy, an object or an animal and take control of it. A Bullet Bill, a T-Rex, a frog, a power line — each one is a different set of abilities and a different way to reach a Moon.

Sandbox kingdoms

The first proper open Mario since 1996, with kingdoms stuffed full of hidden Moons. There are far more of them than you need, so you play until you feel like moving on.

Two players, one hat

Pass a Joy-Con to somebody and they take Cappy while you take Mario. It is a very easy way to bring someone into a game they would not otherwise play.
