On the way to their final party together, a perfectly ordered tape drops the three of them into dreamlike versions of the moments that made them.

A tape of vignettes

Each track is a different bit of being seventeen: skateboarding, flying, taking photographs in a closed theme park after dark, hitting baseballs, setting off fireworks out of a car window. First kiss at one end, last dance at the other.

The soundtrack is the point

The Cure, Joy Division, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music, DEVO, Lush, Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Smashing Pumpkins all turn up on the tape, among others.

Coming-of-age, done properly

It draws on the films everyone has seen and lands the same feeling: aimlessness, mischief, and the ache of things changing whether you are ready or not.
