How you ended up here

Myrtana is being overrun by orcs and King Rhobar II needs magic ore to arm against them, so every prisoner in the kingdom is put down the mines at Khorinis. His mages raise a barrier to stop escapes, the spell goes wrong, and everyone inside is sealed in for good.

A colony that runs itself

The prisoners took over. The mine is now lawless ground split between factions, and the King has to negotiate with the men running it. You arrive as a nobody and have to pick a side before anyone will take you seriously.

Unrestricted from the start

The world is handcrafted and reacts to what you do rather than what quest you are on. You can walk anywhere immediately, which mostly means you can die anywhere immediately.
