Valisthea's nations are fighting over Mothercrystals as the land dies around them. Clive, a shield to his younger brother, loses everything in the first hour and spends the rest of the game answering for it.

Action, not turns

Combat comes from the Devil May Cry team. Dodge, combo, and switch between Eikonic abilities on the fly. Story-focused accessories can make it easier without making it dull.

Eikon battles

Set pieces where you fight as Ifrit against Titan, Bahamut, Odin. They are the biggest scale a Final Fantasy has attempted.

A story for adults

Politics, slavery, war. Ben Starr's performance as Clive carries it. The two story expansions are sold separately.
