You play poker hands to score chips against increasingly unreasonable blinds. The hands are ordinary. What you bolt onto them is not.

The jokers do the work

Every joker changes a rule, and five of them together change the game. Finding a combination that multiplies into the millions is the entire hook, and it never stops being funny.

Break your own deck

Add cards, delete cards, turn a whole suit into another one, make every card a face card. By the last ante your deck should barely be a deck.

One more run

Hidden hands, unlockable decks and boss blinds that ban the thing you were relying on. It is simple to learn and impossible to put down.
